Welcome to class 4T 


Here's what we will be learning next half term:



In Spring, we will be learning about the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes as well as fractions.

We will be exploring a variety of ways to solve problems and give reasons for our answers.



In English, we will continue to read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and write our own newspaper reports. 

We will be recapping on all of the grammar and punctuation expected at year 4.


In Spring our topic is Sound.

In this topic, we will be learning how sounds are made, how sounds travel and how they differ.



We will be learning about Village Settlements where will be learning lots about why people settle somewhere, what they need and what makes a good settlement. 



Our topic this half term is giving and receiving, we will learn about making the right choices and the importance of attending mass.

Reminders ...

    • Each Monday, Tuesday and Friday is PE, the children must bring the appropriate PE Kit in a labelled PE bag.
    • Year 4 go swimming on Thursday so childen need to bring a swimming costume or swimming shorts, a swimming cap if hair is longer than shoulder length and a towel in a labelled PE pag.
    • Spellings will go home on a Monday and need to be practiced for the Friday Big Quiz.
    • Literacy, Numeracy, Topic or RE Homework will go home on a Friday to be returned the following Tuesday.
    • Reading Records need to be written in each night and shown in class every morning along with both reading books.
    • In Year 4 if a child summarises what they have read they can sign their own reading record, if not a parent signiture needs to be given, although they should read with an adult at least once a week.

Dear Friends

The prayer of which Bishop John has always asked us to say is

“Stay with us, Lord, On our Journey”

This is so appropriate for all of us here in St. Cuthbert’s School Community as we embark on our special journey of making the school Outstanding. The prayer is written throughout the school and is a constant reminder and prompt that all that we do in serving this community is done with the help of the Lord.

May we be generous in embracing change and always be sensitive to one another as we take the next step on our Journey together with the Lord.
